Hermanus Whale Festival MTB Experience 2010

Euodia Adventure Centre Cycles and Wine Village – Hermanus are proud to present the Hermanus Whale Festival MTB Experience on the weekend of 24 – 26 September 2010.

On Friday night 24 September we kick off with a leisurely sunset evening cruise. Starting at the Hemel and Aarde Village at 18h30. There will be a fast, medium and slow group and riders will be introduced to the Hemel and Aarde valley by night.

On Saturday morning 25 September we will gather again at the Hemel and Aarde Village for the main event. There will be three races.

– Firstly a 45km epic MTB experience covering most of the Hemel and Aarde Valley for the more experienced riders. Expect to be dazzled with awesome single track, breathtaking views and a fair bit of climbing to raise the heart rate and open the lungs. ‘Water points’ at Newton Johnson and Sumaridge wine cellars! A mountain bike challenge second to none.

– A shorter 25km race caters for the intermediate riders or for those who may have enjoyed the festival a bit too much on Friday night. Not to be outdone by the main race, the organizers made sure that this race is also full of awesome single track, stunning views over Walker Bay and the Hemel and Aarde valley and just enough climbing to burn some calories to make space for the rest of the weekend’s festivities.

– For the junior crowd and beginners there will be a nice 5km track that is flat with some gravel roads and a little bit of single track to introduce our future Olympic champions the pleasures mountain biking.

To conclude the weekend there will be a group ride on Sunday morning, again starting from the Hemel and Aarde Village. There will be a fast, medium and slow group who will be guided on some other routes which were not covered by the race and night ride, thus showing our visitors some of the best cycling Hermanus has to offer.
