The cashkows.com Cliff Path Night Runs on Wednesday saw runners and joggers enjoying a challenging route from the New Harbour all along the cliff paths to finish at Dutchies Restaurant on Grotto Beach. A challenging run in day light but even more so at night. 115 runners took part in the 10km run in total darkness with head lights bobbing around as they made their way along single racks, staircases and beach crossings. Chad Gordon, a local trail running specialist, completed the race in an astounding 35 minutes with Shane Privit and Kevin Pasio close on his heels. Mary-Anne Finlayson was first for the ladies with Anne Marie Strom and Caitlyn Schlemeyer in close pursuit.
The 6km run was won by Shaun O’Brien with Gustav van Wyk and Cameron Anderson right on his heels. In the ladies 6km Oriel Viljoen from Kenya came first with Brooke de Bruyn and Katja Sinclair second and third. The participants applauded the event as one of the most enjoyable runs ever encountered.
At prize giving Brennan Davis, cashkows.com IT Director, presented Deon Langenhoven from NSRI of Hermanus a donation of R4, 500 from the proceeds of entry fees. Davis thanked the NSRI for the dedicated service to the Hermanus community.
